Life after recruitment

Has anyone transitioned from recruiting to another field outside of People/HR? I’m wondering what path you took to get to where you are today.

I on the other hand am thinking about going into recruiting in maybe 2 years. My partner wants to move rural, and I think recruiting can somehow fulfill that?? Thoughts, @derpyderps?

Yah, there are more remote sourcing jobs popping up these days. I recommend first securing a job at a FANG company and then talking about remote opportunities after you’ve established yourself, otherwise they may not be as flexible hiring you purely remote from the start.

Yea, working on that plan right now indeed. But by securing a job at FAANG, you mean a recruiting role on-site first?

Yep, on-site at a FAANG first

How would you recommend going into recruiting from a non-recruiting field? I just looked at the JD for recruiting/ sourcing, and for the level, they usually want like 3-year related experience.

Look into customer/client facing roles at HR Tech companies. Your recruiter experience at fb provides a level of domain expertise that they usually don't see in candidates and gives you instant credibility when speaking to customers/clients. At smaller start ups, the product team may see you as a valuable resource who can advise on usability of features in development or under consideration.

That’s a great recommendation. I’ve considered customer success roles and eventually transitioning to the Product side. Thanks!
