Asking for a friend, when do you speak up if middle manager is suppressing your growth at the company because their role is under the microscope. His daily negativity is weighing on my work, communication is always tense, and even when I offer strategic roadmaps or team expansion plans, it gets shot down - assuming because heโs worried about his neck on the line / cannot scale for long term processes/growth. Thoughts? Leave now or suffer and hope year end pays off for not calling him out.
Let me tell you a story.. My manager who is a c suite executive. Is the most insecure person in the planet.. I was hired to do ml for company, but he has shot down every idea of mine since I joined. He changes authors of the excels I send him to make it look like he did it. One year I gave him benefit of the doubt..i was always tense. My face probably started saying fuck you all the time. Finally I decided that the only solution is leaving. The company clearly didn't give a fuck because they even promoted him.. Despite the fact he knows NOTHING! Leave before you get to point like me.. - depressed and angry.

Holy cow that sounds like a nightmare scenario, sorry to hear that. Some people are just evil
Follow Brigette Hyacinth on LinkedIn. I know sounds hollow but it'll help you reiterate what people are saying here.. A bad / insecure / incompetent /....manager can really have negative impact on not only your future in company but also mental health. There's a saying you know when a manager is bad when people who would otherwise give ideas turn into people who now are so numb they don't give ideas because they know it won't be implemented / taken into consideration. Just leave the company before you become apathetic
Change the company or the team. The company should be spending time to train the manager, not you. The economy is strong and you can move jobs easily.
