LinkedIn Staff new hire max range

Had a chat with the recruiter before moving to onsite. He mentioned the max total comp for new hires is around 380. How true is that? I was expecting around 420-450. I aborted the process. TC: 365 YOE: 11

Yeah staff can go into 400s. 380 would be just above the high end of senior

Maybe the recruiter gave an answer based on YOE and other factors like FAANG experience.

They (LI recruiter) told me Senior SWE tops out around 300. 🤔 Also got the same answer that Staff (which is what I wanted) topped out at 380. This was with a competing counter offer. Felt like they didn’t even want to bother negotiating.

For L6 it pays 350 to 440.

L6 is Staff?

My spouse is an Eng Manager at LinkedIn.. which is equivalent to staff. My spouse's offer was for 225k base, 15% Targeting bonus, 650k RSU and 60k signon . TC comes to about 435k. Due to msft stock appreciation, that TC has now become about 490k. (Before to LinkedIn, my spouse was at Google as a T5 manager with a TC of 380. They had counter offer from FB for a M0 manager for about 400k and from Lyft as well..don't remember the offer since Lyft was pre-ipo at that time) Without counter offers, it is hard to touch 400k for staff

Thank for the data points. That seems matching with what the recruiter was saying.

nice! high TC couple. how old are you guys?

Staff can easily touch 400. I think p95 is probably 500.

LinkedIn chiknCurry Jul 9, 2019

Staff can definitely go up to 450 (higher with stock appreciation), but why would they hand out a top of the band offer to someone without any competing offers right off the bat? It all comes down to haggling.
