LinkedIn comp... how negotiable is salary?

I am interviewing for a Sr Mgr position at LinkedIn coming from a Director at Salesforce. They stated upfront the very most they could do would be $175k, $20k less than what I am currently making in my salary. How likely is it that I can still push them to pay at least within $190k? Also, 15% bonus at LI instead of 20%. Comparable RSUs at 70-80k. Current TC is ~$250k.

Can they rescope the role as Director in order to compensate more? Can Directors report into Directors at LinkedIn?

Spill the numbers here. It’d help people share more meaningful insights.

$175K seems to be the lower end for an Engg Sr Manager position. I think you could negotiate for higher there.

Bonus should be 20% and not 15%. Not sure what’s the disconnect there.

RSUs at 70-80K per year seem less too.

Is this for an engineering position?

It’s a non-technical role, so I know I’m working in a lower bracket than engineers. I’ll double check on bonus though, thank you. Sorry, I was asking from a philosophical standpoint on how LinkedIn approaches negotiation. My recruiter said the bracket started at $145k and that they’d want to leave me room to grow within the bracket. But, I’m thinking I’ve grown into my current salary, so not really thinking about taking a $20k hit to grow to where I’m currently at. Also, can you clarify the ESPP program? We get a 15% discount on the lowest strike price over a 6 month period. How does LinkedIn’s compare? I am really interested in the role and have heard LinkedIn’s culture is one of the best, otherwise I wouldn’t even be entertaining these talks with the recruiter saying $175k is their top number.

LI ESPP sucks cuz it's the same as MSFT now. We can contribute 15% up to 25k, for a 10% discount on the price at the end of every quarter. No look back. Not worth considering into TC numbers.

Why are you downgrading your pay?

Well hopefully I won’t have to, but the job itself is compelling and seems like work life balance would be good.

Sr mgr should be 20% bonus...are you sure about the 15? How does the LI offer compare on equity?

Yes, the recruiter definitely said 15%. Equity is comparable but ESPP plan seems much worse. At Salesforce you get a 15% discount off the lowest strike price over a 6 month period. The recruiter said LinkedIn is just 10% discount at any time. But when I asked clarifying questions, she didn’t appear confident in her answers. Can anyone clarify the ESPP plan?

Espp is 10% off on the price at end of window. So it's def. worse

Yes Directors report to directors however it is usually temporary as the managing director usually gets promoted soon after

Would they bump the role up to director in order to get me the right comp if they really wanted me?

Recruiting/HR can answer this better but Comp and title aren’t 1:1. Sr Manager has a really wide range.

What’s the total pay they are offering? I think Sr Manager at Linkedin should match director pay at sf.

Did you end up receiving an offer? Also interviewed for a non-engineering Senior Manager role at LI and was told the base would be $150k — about 20-35k lower than anticipated. Curious what the real salary band // Rsu range is?

I didn’t move forward w/ the role because the compensation was too low.

150k base — didn’t get into other elements. After doing addl research apparently LinkedIn is notorious for underpaying, which is sort of interesting.

You can always ask then to raise it and see what they would say. Worst case they say no and you have to decided what's right for you
