LinkedIn is glorified Facebook

I have had better success ratio getting dates with online dating apps than getting interviews or any other leads with LinkedIn.

LinkedIn network is like Facebook friends list, only good on paper.

FB is is Democrats mouth piece - anyone says anything against them it’s autocorrecting. They have Bots doing this. FB is basically a Nazi propaganda machine now.

Speech blocking - one or other is not for USA - maybe China- what OP is suggesting is let’s shame people by downvote - that’s no different than stoning or some Medieval Christian practice.

Haha! The fact that you compare democrats to Nazi is really amusing and it shows you have no fucking clue what you’re talking about!
Don’t get me wrong! democrats do some fucked up shit, but Nazi?!

LinkedIn is awesome for getting referrals and finding jobs. The news feed part of it is really cringe worthy though.

There must be a reason they keep newsfeed this way. I’m sure they know how bad it is

Some of the "inspirational" posts people make remind me of those old chain emails people would send out over AOL. It's really fucking bad.

I feel the same way but since I can simply ignore the newsfeed feature it’s just a minor annoyance rather than a dealbreaker. So I stopped paying attention to news altogether. I also unfollow immediately anyone in my network who likes this shit twice. It’s inconvenient that I must do it but the benefits are still outweighing the negatives

Also it’s interesting to ponder why is the newsfeed this way? And why is it annoying to me? The first answer is that LinkedIn used to be professional network but it wanted to expand user base so it took in a lot of low payed or unpaid people. These are not career driven and have different priorities in life, like cuddling puppies etc

If your feed is crap then it means your connections are crap - you can easily fix this by only connecting with relevant (or what you want to see) type of connections.

I got 6 recent job leads on LinkedIn and 3 offers in just 3 weeks via LinkedIn, so I know LinkedIn works. Premium version is totally worth it.

How do you use the app? Can you give us some examples? Apply for a job and didn’t get response? Or try to connect to someone and he didn’t respond?

      OP
Apply for a job if I meet the requirements. I apply in state as well as out of state. Some jobs have ‘Easy apply’ and for some, I have to create company specific account and apply. Do recruiters post jobs even if HM has someone in mind ? How does it work ? Appreciate any inside tips you may provide !!

I believe some of the jobs are only for marketing purposes. Basically recruiters drop it there so people can apply and they collect your portfolio for later use, or it’s a company strategy to show they are growing!

The best way is to connect with someone who is working there.

I am also curious, did you apply the same job at Indeed? They have all the jobs we have. If you get a response from Indeed then obviously the problem is on LinkedIn side.

Also as a disclaimer I don’t work on Jobs team at LinkedIn but I can send your feedback to them if you give me concrete example.

Also you can tag people at LinkedIn and complain about it directly. Usually you get a better response from them. Just be concrete with your example.

If you can get Jeff Weiner or Ryan Roslansky’s attention (or some other VPs) then that team is fucked and they have to get their shit together 😂

Is it even glorified, though? It’s just Facebook without most of the people who list their education as “school of hard knocks” and “works at boss bítch”

I find LinkedIn very useful. Three of my four recent interviews were enabled by LinkedIn - a retained exec search firm, MSFT executive recruiter, and FB leadership recruiter. Only the Google process started with me making the first move.

LinkedIn is a recruiters easy button for pretending to work.
Oh sure I sent a targeted inmail out to x people on the job they’ll be pouring in really quickly.
