LinkedIn offer, how to get it higher

1.5 yr in fb, LinkedIn offers 145k base, 225 rsu, 10% target bonus, soft engineer (equivalent to l3) Currently lining up for promo at fb. Talked to recruiter and asked for senior engineer. Got a no. No competing offers. How to negotiate up $$ Reason for leaving: a teammate is hard to work with. Edit: looks like I should plan the change by getting competing offers.

For your 1.5 years exp I think it's good enough.

1.5 and seeking senior, yoe? What?

Title inflation

Oscar 🐨koala Mar 27, 2019

Even though LinkedIn does seem to have inflation problem, if total yoe is 1.5, fuck no, you are not a senior. GTFO.

I left team due to a colleague who was hard to work. Let your manager know and change teams if you can

Facebook tihs OP Mar 27, 2019

Already let the manager know. But I don't want to waste my current effort on promotion. Change teams would defer that

Get promo first and then switch team, not the other way around

Facebook tihs OP Mar 27, 2019

This was the plan until this offer shows up.

Defer the offer , don’t cancel it - negotiate or re-interview after promotion

Microsoft cruisin Mar 27, 2019

Also, that's a shit reason to leave

Jet.com asd01 Mar 27, 2019

Agree

Facebook tihs OP Mar 27, 2019

Well initially I wasn't planning to leave. And now seems there is this option and the situation is worse. Mentioned the offer and the hard-to-work coworker to manager. See how he will deal with it

1.5 YoE and you want them to give you senior? That’s a great offer for 1.5 YoE and I don’t think you’ll see much better especially without any competing offers.

I think their top line for the software engineer role is 210-220k. You have some wiggle room to ask for more, it looks like.

1.5 yrs and you want senior position in LinkedIn? No way it's happening. Why would they make an exception for you and ignore other 1000+ existing senior engineers they have?

Facebook blahtihs Mar 27, 2019

Anyway I asked. No hurt to ask, right..

Current tc?

There was a guy recently on blind who got up leveled to senior. Strong competing offers+good interview performance should do the trick.

Sorry but 1.5 yr exp is nothing

Jet.com asd01 Mar 27, 2019

Their leveling is inflated, it could be possible.
