In your experience, what would the result: I nailed the coding interviews and did just average on system design round. I didn't bomb the interview but it was not the best performance either. Behavioral round went ok too. It's a senior SWE role at Sunnyvale.
If you did well on all the coding modules and the technical communication module, but scored just below a pass on the systems design, you might still pass or be asked to repeat that module.
Do you work at Shopify in Ottawa?
Nah, Toronto
If it was for systems and infrastructure org, then design round is important. They might call you for another couple of rounds if you just missed it.
One thing I noticed is that you never know. Things you may feel you didn't do well you actually did and vice versa.
It's easy to know that for the coding interview but, how can I know if I performed well on system design?
I nailed everything except design round, got down leveled
How bad was your system design round? Did you accept the offer?
it was okay, it was a question that i knew before too, but the interviewer kinda drove it into another direction, and seems to not very satisfied with my answer, seems like there was already another solution on his head that he wanted me to go that way. Linkedin is having no headcount at the moment so I (and many dudes here in blind) are waiting for team match
I had almost the exact same performance and was rejected. They said they considered downleveling, but didn’t have headcount
Might be down leveled.
