I am into the onsite at Linkedin for a Senior Data Scientist Role and have been looking at some teams, and almost all are in Sunnyvale. I know some people travel to Sunnyvale 2 times a week and work from SF on other days, but from a stability standpoint I'd rather be in one office and stay close to work with possible travel on just a few occasions and not on a weekly basis. Considering that I also have competing offers from other companies in SF, has anyone had experience negotiating a relocation with Linkedin from SF to Sunnyvale? What does it look like? Also, what are your thoughts on the decision to move to Sunnyvale?
Agreed. But what to do with the commute?
On the decision to move to Sunnyvale - I live in San Jose, and I can tell you for sure that South Bay is suburbia compared to SF, which is fine by me, but may not be suitable to younger people who like to go out frequently. Distances are far and you need a car to go most places. Weather is better than SF thought at least in my opinion. Also, related to your job/interview, how many YOE do you have to be levelled senior DS? Is it analytics or ML? Do you have a masters? Did you apply online or get a referral (or something else)?
Thanks mate! That's insightful. Not sure what age group you refer to as younger, but i am in my late 20s and definitely like the SF vibe. As for the exp, i have 6 years, a masters, applied online and for a SE - DS role which I think is ML.
Hmm I would have thought 6 years + MS would be staff at LinkedIn. Did you try to see if you could get staff?
Hey did you get an offer??

Sunnyvale is not a happening city. SF, OTOH is much more happening and presents more job opportunities in the future.
