London offer

New DKEs08

I just received a Facebook e5 offer TC - 160k GBP including sign on bonus. Is that a decent one for London? Anything I should be wary of?

Yes, that’s pretty good. Mind break down the components? What’s sign on bonus?

I don't think it will make you feel better, but that TC would pretty much put you on the top 1% income of the UK

Top 1%? But isn't the cost of living higher in London?

Yes, it is higher. London is not worth it unless you're in finance and are getting +100k GBP yearly bonuses.

If you are a US citizen you have to pay US income tax (federal and the last state you lived in) in addition to EU/UK taxes. If you don’t have a special deal worked out where the company covers this, you’ll be in for a big surprise with the double taxation.

For US citizens: One can get Foreign Tax credit and Foreign Earned Income Exemption for money earned abroad. Effectively for your abroad income, if you have paid taxes at a higher rate in the foreign country, usually you won’t have any tax liability in US.

no you dont pay state taxes if permanent move. Sometimes CA creates problems so some folks first move to seattle :)

    Sounds market.

    For comparison to MPK:

Apply ~30% difference in labour market equivalent costs and the USD/GBP exchange rate you get c.$300k TC which is pretty normal for an E5.
