Moving from NYC to Seattle in a few weeks. Looking for best ways to move one bedroom apartment. Moving belongings looks to be more expensive than I expected. Even shipping with upack / pods estimated for around $3.5-4k, plus the effort of packing, loading, and unloading.
If we decide to leave the furniture, how do we move rest of the stuff? Did any of you move long distance recently? How did you do it? What would you recommend / not recommend? Any tips?

We did that and eod only had to get one container. It was the cheapest option and most logical for us.
In retrospect, I would suggest paying for all the help you can afford. Those little things will wear you down
Don’t use upack/pod et-al. They’re way more expensive, won’t pack for you, and just don’t work for NYC. You can’t park the container on the street.
don’t move 😉
I did pods one time and they damaged a ton of my shit, I don’t think I’ll use a packing service again tbh.
