Looking for PM or Sr. Service Mgr Position

I've been applying like mad to various Program Manager or Sr. Manager jobs in SF, Seattle, and Vancouver but absolutely no bites. Even tried overseas for a few (dual national). I'm afraid that my time in Oil and Gas has tainted my experience. Databases, programming and managing Engineers can't be that different between industries ... I really want to move and get out of this industry. I know that I'm worth more. Currently working in O&G on software control systems. Tech Exp w/ SQL, SSIS, C#, C++, VB.NET, VBScript, Powershell, Python, UI design in VS, JIRA, Team Foundation Server. Windows, Unix and OSX. Soft Skils: I've worked on $3M+ projects from Win2016 server setup to QA, test script dev & implementation, tech team mgmt, tech support in 24/7, and develop to teaching tech training. YOE = 11 with B.Sc in EE Also have Prof Engineering designation in Canada (P.Eng) TC = $101k (Base $98, bonus ~$3k) I'm in Canada, eligible for TN visa, but also have German citizenship. Willing to move or work remote. Is there something I should keyword on in my CV to get past the resume screening? Or do I resign myself to being stuck in this industry?

You need to be at the place of action (not sure how, in your case). You are competing with local talent, after all.

Yeah I'm wondering if the whole "have to relocate" is hurting my chances

SAP ebda Sep 27, 2019

It could well be. Unless the candidate's profile is outstanding, most hiring managers would prefer local talent. Logistically easier & financially cheaper.

It also could be your work status. In the US if you do not have a Green Card or permanent residency, in order for a company to hire they have to go through a process, mainly being the fact they have to attest that after looking across the United States they could not find a qualified permanent resident that could fill the position so they had to hire and sponsor someone. Most companies prefer not to do this unless you are some sort of unicorn.

I don't know if this is a requirement when hiring a TN candidate, because, for an H1B, it isn't (contrary to popular belief)

What is TN?

What did Seattle people say?

Don't understand. Seattle was a previous job that I was laid off from. They were really nice and let me go on vacation before sending me an email to not return to work. 🤨

You said you applied to places in Seattle and I was wondering what they said.
