I was a passionate trader and loved to do short term trading. Last year I made 125k and this year lost all. Can't share with anyone and feel depressed. How to recoverš£
Where did you trade? Which platform?
Please teach us how the hell you made $125K in a year, with a regular full time job? How much initial investment did you put? What were largest profits ā amounts and percentage wise? And then share how the reverse happened, like losing $125K in matter of 6 months? Which stocks did you put money and at what valuations? Perhaps you are too aggressive investors, and invested in bit coins or biotechs. If so, make your balls steel strong. Otherwise share your investment details so people can provide genuine suggestions. Simple rules to follow: - donāt be too greedy.. take profit in chunks without hoping that youād sell at 52 weeksā high / all-time highs only - diversify as much as possible.. hard, as we are often inclined to techs only - why to sell in loss rather changing your strategy, like holding for long to recover? - donāt invest money (or take loans) that you may need to reclaim/return in a tight timeframe - etc... Lastly think this was a $125,000 lesson you learnt the hard way! Share here to help people not to do the same.
Thanks a lot for a comprehensive reply. Many factors came in my trading story. Yes I have been an aggressive trader which I regret today. Initially I used to buy stocks in bulk and trade with small percent profit, with large amount (aapl, nvda, amd, etc) My biggest mistake was I used margin too at one point and then had to sell stocks when market crashed. How to recover that loss? I moved to options trading. I initially did pretty well. Made 15k in 2 weeks. Thought now I can revover many. And other mistake I did was buy options through earnings. It cost me a lot! Todat I have only 12k in my brokerage and dont want how to recover. The other worst part is you feel like buying more to average down and try to recover. This way I kept adding into brokerage from savings acc and lost quite a lot. Now I'm at a point where I'm not quite sure if I can recover my money at all. After all these years, it feels like shit when I could not manage to save money and lost in hoping to recover my losses
Short term trading is tricky! 1)Trying buying stocks instead of options short term or 2) Invest only 10% of your portfolio on options 3) Hedge on the stocks you own, it feels good to buy protection. 4) if you make some money take it off the table and spend on something you like and then start over slowly.
