Hi, i interviewed for L6 FP&A role at Amazon, they came back saying that due to lack of experience they can only give me L5 role. they said i do not have to interview again but they will offer me some L5 roles and then i will have introductory calls with hiring managers. Two questions - how long does this team match process take? secondly - is it worth taking the lower level role. the HR said that considering my experience is border line, i can expect promotion within 1.5 years. level is not a big concern for me. but the salary is, the max for L5 is $110.. that is actually less than my current salary. also, seattle is way more expensive than my current location. what is the percentage salary bump at promotion?
How in the world did you let them offer you something less than your current TC. You need to up your negotiation game. Try to counter offer or get a second offer from another company. Did you see that blind post about some moron with 1 yoe getting offers for 360k from Google and FB. Lol comn on now.
Well, the way I understand it is that they have a range for each level and they can’t go beyond the range without going thru multiple level of approvals..
How many years of experience do you have? Or was it more like experience in day to day tasks/responsibilities?
Would like to understand how many years of total experience you have and then core FP&A. I agree with the ranges they do have range and won't go over the range limit. Is this a an analyst role or a managerial. Atleast ask them to match your current salary.. you will probably make more working in Amazon for 3-5 years than other companies, coz the experience there will open lot of doors in future.
I have 3.5 years of experience. Mix of FP&A and corporate strategy.
Fair compensation for the experience. Take it, coz it will help you grow and learn
Thanks for the advice. It just is a huge step going from tier 2 city to tier 1 and taking a salary cut 😑
Be prepared to walk away
Negotiate for more sign on and stock. Don't get lowballed and downleveled for less pay than you currently make! Amazon needs people just like everyone else.
Did they get back to you op? Any update?
A very myopic strategy if I may say so.
