Before I begin I want to say that this is not an "in your face" post for non-Googlers. This is a humble post form the bottom of my heart. I hope this post inspires some people. I am so lucky and humble to be working at Google. People are so so nice. Always looking out for you. When I worked at amazon no one cared if I spent extra effort into doing things. People spoke bad about each other. Managers had favorites. At google people are really really smart. And they care so much about you. Free food does help a lot. Saves you lots of time. You don't have to wait for anyone to deliver your food. Bonuses are amazing. Your stocks start getting vested after first quarter. You can work on projects as you want. Managers have regular 1 on 1 and they actually care. You ask anyone any question (even if it's simply on HTTP) there are no judgments. People (did I mention people?) are so amazing to work with. Free gym onsite. Doctors, nurses, massages, kitchen sync, juice bars, mini kitchens. It is such an experience. It is just so humbling. Hiring bar is the same (or going up?) Only thing is people are practicing more nowadays. Over all it is amazing. Thank you Larry and Sergey. Who knows how long I'll be here but it is a humbling experience.
How much did the recruiter pay you to post this
What? Seriously ?
OP is imaginary
Too much kool aid
Coming from a tier 4 company, I feel you op. In my previous company, people use the word resource in place of people. Nobody says someone leaves the company. People only say their team is one resource down. I feel welcomed by the team and didn't get demoted in a month.
Love your job, not your company.
I also love google over bing or yahoo
Interesting! I recently joined Google and my experience is exact opposite. My teammates are dicks. My manager barely has a 1:1 a month. I don't even see him. I have no idea about my career path. No one cares about my work. My stock growth is negative. I'm thinking to leave and go back to my previous company whose employees were at least respectful to each other.
Posts like this remind me how different two Googler's experiences can be. My experience is pretty much contrary to everything OP says. Minus the food bit. That part is awesome.
It’s a huge company with tons of different personalities, so it’s hardly surprising that individual experience varies.
That's at every company though. There's lots of variance within companies, that's why some people at Amazon need tear resistant desks while others are perfectly happy and don't see that happening in their part of the org.
Am glad it’s working out well for you. Not every one has good things to say/feel about ones company. Be happy for yourself
Thank you
“Hiring bar is going up.” Lol
Yeah more like they let in anyone who can Leetcode through an interview
Why not? Been while at Amazon. Just started realizing that bar/difficulty level is much higher now comparing to when I got into Amazon.
