I have been hearing from drivers and other passengers that their lines and pools are just getting really ridiculous matches. Things like having to backtrack in the middle of traffic. Matching people with drivers who are super far away. Drop off routes that make no sense. I know that lines and pools are meant to be a little out of the way but there needs to be a limit Unfortunately it seems like neither uber nor lyft are very aware of it (or don’t care). This thread is meant to improve both services, not to slander them. SF needs them but their service right now sucks. Please post stories or screenshots of the crappy matches you have gotten. For example, Check out this drop off route where i get to be dropped off last despite the route passing my office first. I know i can tell the driver that i will get out sooner and i often do but shouldn’t the damn algo fix this??
And Uber for sure cares about avoiding ‘backtracking’
Thats great to know!! Ty
This is my favorite... before, 6 plus empty cars within 5 mins....
Lets match you with someone finishing a ride and make you wait 15mins plus!
I can’t speak for Lyft, but I’m pretty sure the cars in Before screen are dummies. Don’t think we show actual location of cars unless you request. That match though...
OP, that street is one way and I don't Lyft has a way to tell you to walk even if it's just 10ft. Try Uber Express Pool
Looks like you could have been dropped off first before the 2nd and 3rd passenger pick up. Uber express would have dropped you off on a corner close to that location instead of exact. Not sure if Lyft has that built-in.
Dude, it is such a short distance, just walk if you are not disable. 15 mins can save you 15% on commute cost
Or get a bike! The weather in that area is very conducive to that form of travel :)
I just asked to be dropped off at the closest corner. I just want lyft to see this so that they can do something. Im lucky to get such a close proximity but it doesnt happen all the time and they need to do something about it
I use express pool everywhere now in the city unless I’m with people. I even prefer it to X because I don’t have to try and predict the optimal pick up for the potential available drivers so it ends up being faster a lot of times not having to wait for the driver to circle around one way streets and road closures.
As others have mentioned, Uber — and specifically Express pool — is significantly better at this. Some basic things like are one way lanes and avoiding backtracking are taken care of. Give it a shot and let us know. Good luck.
Try Uber Express Pool. I think you’ll be much happier with the match choices.
Ty for the reply. I have used uber pool too but can’t say its much different. And the inly reason i dint use it more is because I can’t cancel once I’m matched without being charged where as with lyft i can. But uber drivers can cancel on individual poolers in case its too inconvenient so thats nice
Pool express is different from normal pool. It has a lot less backtracking. When I use it, it is usually only 10-15 min longer than UberX in my experience.
