200-250 in LA is not a lot for a high senior engineer. It's high for other professions but not a L64 engineer. It's just a fact. When you can get 350-400+ elsewhere, it's low. Especially since SpaceX is known to work you VERY VERY hard.
Also, his rent estimates are conservative. If you want something luxury, it'll be 3k+. The tax estimate was also generous. You'll lose almost half of your pay to tax.
Larger point I was making, we (everyone here) are the absolute worst complaining $250k is "very very very low". That is a ridiculous sum of money to 99.99% of the world.
You won't find anything in Playa/MDR that was built in the last 30y for under 2500 anymore (maybe a studio but I doubt it). Luxury being rock counters, wood floors and stuff, new (last 10y), no homeless all over the place, no section 8. That'll run you 3k in Playa/MDR nowadays.
Comp isnt the biggest factor. working for a small company right now, working crazy hours on crap projects for 150k base and profit sharing (but dont trust them to pay out honnestly).
