Recruiter asked for expected compensation after a successful onsite. I asked her what level are they hiring me for but she didn’t give a clear answer. I have 3.5 years of experience in the bay area with a couple of competing offers from fang. What should be a fair compensation to ask for ?
Woah seriously ? I asked for 155 base and heavier on the equity side. Didn’t know lyft goes that high ! Actually, I am still waiting on numbers from amazon and nest, so will check again based on that.
Base is the real thing- wonder how real is the Equity for non public companies like Lyft
If you’re curious whether 800 is legit for a ~T4/T5 at Lyft, it is.
Nope, I know 800 is legit. What I am saying is - if Lyft does not IPO in 3 yrs, and you leave after 2 yrs, are the RSUs of any use ? Can they be sold somehow in the secondary market ?
U would either be a t4 or a t5 if u did really great... Max for T4 is 180 base n 300+ total comp... T5 190-200k base n 400+ total comp.
Fuck anyone getting T5 after 3.5 years.
???
You're not senior after 3.5 years and your inflated level is ruining all the older timers earned levels. Don't worry, like the economy, it too will correct eventually. When wages tighten and companies want real senior engineers it won't be kids with 3.5 years exp.
