Looking into a career change. Have been accepted into a top 5 MBA program with no scholarship but also interested in UI/ux or data science bootcamp schools. Want to be able to work remotely, buy a farm to live on and not deal with much debt. But acquiring a medium size business also seems interesting long term. Liberal arts background and not interested in anything overly technical. Edit: definitely not interested in finance, marketing, sales. Maybe something like brand strategy. Am attracted to the creative aspects of ux design and applications of data science. Also re costs the MBA will end up putting me $200k in debt, the bootcamp I'm considering is $17k and you don't pay until you get a job (although I'm looking at MBA financing that also has a similar offer).
MBA if you don't want to be technical you shouldn't think bootcamp
Thanks!
The pure economics of an MBA probably don't make sense unless you're at <3 YoE and making less than $80k TC. That said, full-time MBA at top schools is a blast. 2 year travel party vacation that's as close as it gets to being back in college.
Thanks! Yeah seems the intangible social connections may be worth something
MBA will open up doors to so many other domains. That’s the advantage.
If you don’t want debt not sure an MBA without a scholarship is wise. You’ll be out 1/4 million easy.
Thanks! Yes, this is the biggest concern
Bootcamps are a complete scam. The department of education is regulating them heavily. Lambda School and Holberton are the biggest joke of an education on this planet.
Thoughts on flatiron school or product school?
Dude just get a degree. If you want to be surrounded by SJW tards and pay $40k to learn javascript be my guest. Degrees are timeless and won’t disappear in a recession.
Didn't know I could do that. Thanks!
You are as confused as me. Maybe try doing MBA. It will lead to high pay job. In 10 years maybe you can retire on a farm.
Haha thanks
Sloan or Kellogg? Off WL?
Overly confused? Decide what you want to do.
Thanks, never been the most decisive person aha.. WHAT I do doesn't matter as much to me as the lifestyle option it gives me along with other factors like how recession-proof the choice is,etc..
See both options are not equal. MBA from top 5 opens doors to a lot of things. Bootcamp on the other hand can be done any time. If given a choice between a tree and a leaf, what will you choose if you want to trade in wood?
