Lol love the difference between tech & consulting. I’ve been referred by multiple strangers in tech, and have seen multiple referrals in tech via blind. Then there’s this consulting post and all these “I want to make sure people I refer makes me look good externally so I need to know them” is so sad. *im not at McKinsey btw lol
What you do: just send out the questions needed to refer strangers and let the strangers fill it out themselves. Lol. It’s not hard.
Lmao - consulting is the art of external perception. There’s no substance in consulting work, it’s all talk. So you’d better be able to gauge someone’s personality or presentability before refering. In tech, it’s well known that even Feynman could fail in an Amazon on-site so it’s nbd if referrals don’t get the job. In consulting, it “signals” bad judgement, because hey there is literally no other way to judge how good a consultant you are, other than these subtle markers lolol
