for someone who wants to move to an ML role, is LinkedIn to Intuit a good move? TC at Intuit > LinkedIn
Intuit is a virgin land in this space and there is a tremendous company-level funding happening in the AI/ML and big data space. You will have a better chance to shine there. Join us :)
Having an on-site soon but confused about the questions!
Really? Can’t believe Intuit is paying higher. Not trying to taunt but I have seen people moving from Intuit to Paypal/eBay and both these employers are not that good in terms of pay
I see a migration in the opposite direction over the last few years.
How can Intuit pay more? TC?
DS in LinkedIn is business analytics, no ML, as that belongs to AI .org. AFAIK, DS in LinkedIn is about metrics and dashboard, not engineering. What I see, ML Eng vs DS@Linkedin should be very different, and does not look like a hard decision.
Intuit situation would be team specific
At Intuit you would want to be in the QuickBooks (small business), tax, or some fraud teams if you want to do ML (analytics...ML isn't really DS. DS is just sexy right now). I would also suggest, regardless of where you r interviewing, ask questions to gauge how much actual ML you'll be doing (of that's what your passionate about specifically). DS is an overloaded term. Everybody wants to say they are a Data Scientist, and companies want to say they are big in to Data Science, when in reality you could be an analyst with background in ML and passionate about it, joining a team and/or company that's real focus is business analytics.
Yes, LinkedIn DS role is about analysis, metrics and dashboards. No ML at all. Intuit is offering an ML role and the interviews were quite mathematical and statistical heavy. I know a friend working there and he had only good things to say. Thanks for the views. I'm positive about Intuit.
Can you tell me more about the interview process?
@OP, what kind of background do you have? I was told that most of the DS roles at LinkedIn are sought after by PHDs. I have a masters in MIS and 5 years of experience in the analytics space and really interested in joining Linkedin. Would love to learn more about your experience.
@BL23, If you love building dashboards, creating metrics foundation platforms, writing queries to pull data and present it to business stakeholders and AB testing, LinkedIn is the place for you. Don't expect ML/DL work as that's done by the AI team.
What background does one need to have to get into the AI team? What's the interview process like?
