MS offer evaluation Level 63

Amazon alsgj
Jul 9 31 Comments

Base: 170k
Signing bonus: 50k
Stock: 350k (over 4 years)
The recruiter said based on the level (63) and the base salary, the annual refresher would be about 30k (not sure how true that is).

Any idea how good/bad this offer is? I feel it's very low for L63.

30k is exceptional reward. 17k is the target

Thanks. See this is why we should never trust recruiters!

Thanks. Don't know how different the band is between 63 and 64.
They also had to go for approval (quoting from the recruiter). I also had 2 competing offers, which helped me negotiate.
How bad is it in comparison with E4/T4 at Fb/G?

Humm, I thought for E4/T4 they're low 300s. (My friend is at Fb E4 and his TC is 300)

By the way, how is it at MS in comparison to Amazon? What do you miss the most about Amazon?

So you had an offer from FB which is close to your current offer at MS, but lower level.
Your TC at AWS was higher than both.
Why did you choose MS? Because of the level?

Seems fairly good tbh. I had a top of band offer for L61 2.75 YoE of 135k base 200k stock 50k signing. Yours seems right in line with that upped by two levels except for maybe the signing cash. Maybe see if a bit more stock is possible (375 or even more)? Definitely going to need various strong offers from others to negotiate more.

Looks like 50k is really low considering the fact that your offer was 2 levels down.
      Good info! Congratulations !

I'd still say the offer is very good though. I don't think signing scales up as much as base or stocks do for higher levels, and I also have never heard of anyone else getting 50k signing at L61 like I did.

Did you have any competing offers from F/G?
200k stock for L61 is super rare.

Yes, I had offers from G (212k stock) and FB (200k stock). Otherwise my grant would definitely not have been as high as it was.

Any reason you chose MS over G/Fb?

15k is the target bonus which is what you should account for. 30k is max IIRC.

Thanks. How does the offer look like for this level? Below average?
      Jul 9
    • Microsoft Tattle
My base at 63 is 155k so urs looks above average to me. Stocks are really good too. Signing bonus could be higher, try negotiating a bit. if they don't budge, I'd take it.

380k for 6yoe? Wow that's great. Bay area or Seattle? (If it's the bay area I would say it's about 300k in Seattle)

Yea at Amazon I worked on highly impactful projects which helped me learn a lot about the design and architecture. That's one of the best things at Amazon.
