YOE: 2 years Current TC: 120k (contractor, 0 benefits or PTO, hourly pay) Offer: Base: 130k Sign on: 15k “On-hire stock award”: 15k (is this per year? Didn’t mention vesting period in offer) Bonus: up to 20% Relocation: 2.5k They didn’t specify a level in the offer, which I find weird. Moving from mind numbing big bank application (learning nothing, mature app, mostly support) to MSFT core services - sales and marketing. I’ve been told that this is an awful team, but seems like a huge step up from a bank. PS - undergrad degree is in engineering, not CS
Looks like a SDE2 offer (level 61). Base looks fine. Cash Bonus is low. (But MSFT offers less bonus to industry hires vs college hires) Stock is for 4 years, very low. (Ditto)
How much should I try to ask for sign on / stock? I’m also concerned with the CSE team, is it as bad as I’ve read on here, or would it be a positive move from where I’m at?
It’s a positive move from where you are. You could negotiate for more stocks but even if they don’t change the offer (unless you have competing offers hey probably won’t budge much) and this is your best, I would take it. You can always stay a year or so and jump to another tech company for a higher pay.
Typical new hire stock award is 50% of base anally

Bump up your base package
Did you talk to your HR
Nah, felt like waiting a day before sending a follow up. Thinking of asking for more stock and sign on
Base is all fine, for 2years of exp, 130 is great, 60k of total stocks is all good, but try negotiate.
I believe the stock award is 15K overall not per year.
Did you finalize the offer?
Can I PM you?

You should look for more. On hire stock looks like per year otherwise it's too low for 4 years vesting.
Look for more meaning negotiate up or look elsewhere?
Negotiate more. It is always better if you have counter offers. Try to get at least one more.
