How prestigious is databricks?
I am considering a sr software engineer position at Microsoft CSE team. How is the team? And what is the total compensation like? Can someone shed some light?
No, the OP is correct - there are two teams called CSE - the old MSIT team and the old DX team both renamed to CSE at the same time. Based on the OP’s title, I’m assuming he means the former DX team, not MSIT.
There is also the CSE under Judson: Commercial Software Engineering. Team mixed. Some rockstar engineers and some pure evangelists. Don't know about comp but theresots of variety on offer, opportunity for travel and you'll be working mostly with customers.
Thanks all. Yes, it is Commercial Software Engineering and looks more like solutions engineering than core infra engineering. In which case I guess the previous name DX stands for Developer eXperience or something along the lines.
Any insight from the inside?
So how did this turn out?
How did the interview go? Did you accept the offer?
Btw CSE stands for Core Services Engineering team. It is new name for MSIT. Your compensation will be fine, but you will loose all your technical skills over time. Success is measured based on silly metrics like VSTS hygiene and infra patching as opposed to writing quality code or taking the business to next level. The leaders there are old school non-techies for the most part and do not have any technological vision. You’ll keep hearing buzzwords like Agile, DevOps and most recently AI/ML, but no one has any clue on what it really means and how to implement them. I would encourage you to stay away unless your current place is terribly bad
Agreed... on all these things... try to avoid CSE...
No, CSE in this case is actually commercial software engineering. Part of the Services org
