MSFT internal transfer

If one applies for a job in another team and is chosen for the job, does the new team roll out a fresh offer or do they have to join in the same salary? Also what about grades, can they join at a different (higher) grade?

same salary, same level. this is to prevent "unwanted poaching" as per hr

unless if you have a change of location, then pay will be adjusted accordingly

Thanks. That is what I knew as well, till a fried claimed he switched internally from L63 to L64 and said his RSU was renegotiated, base remained the same. He went from windows to surface...and this is all in Redmond, no loc change

that might be a rare exception, if the new team really liked you and they have a serious requirement, then it is possible although it might require m3/director level approval

      No.

This was true in the past, but a few years ago it was changed so that you can apply/interview/get an offer/accept without notifying your manager.

If you have a competing external offer, then it can be negotiated.
    Otherwise everything remains the same.

That's not true. It can be negotiated if you have an external offer,, and the internal interview loop went very well (they really want to retain you).

      Personal experience.

I had an internal + external offer. Recruiter did not budge.
