Following. Been considering this as well.

Why? You guys will get so outdated if you do this, the better combo if you want to be in risk management is the quant path then experience. Imagine a MS in Applied Maths with focus in Financial Maths or directly one in financial maths. Those degrees IMHO would not help in your career.

Agree

This is spot on. I work in Risk Management and i can assure you those degrees dont mean much. Feel free to PM me. YOE: 7 TC: 170k

I suspect real experience will be more valued than a grad level RM degree. That said, your technical undergrad will be useful as risk can be quite quantitative.

Is it because of WLB of risk management? Otherwise on TC wise it doesn't outbid SWE roles in the same company at the same level.

I don't have background for SWE. And don't see myself becoming a coding ninja

I was looking at this degree as well, with a background in banking & compliance reporting. I chose to pursue a masters of data analytics to be more marketable to different industries if need be. I have a feeling a risk program would be easier than what I got myself into.

You don't need any degrees for risk unless you want to be a modeler. It's all just experience. Most management in banking don't have fancy degrees except for quants traders and investment bankers. All ops risk etc don't bother. Banks rarely even sponsor adv degrees for execs because they just don't believe in it.

Appreciate responses. While I don't expect to get a huge bump in TC, I thought this might give structured thought to work at hand. I will look at quant

Why bother.

I take it you are doing pretty good
