I do full-stack development in my XPS Ubuntu laptop and loving it, except the battery life, which is horrible. So I started thinking about a Mac. How is it these days for Java/Android/Docker development (i use intellij)? Anyone made the switch and loving it? Or vice versa? Please comment as well if you made the switch
Why not buy a new battery if you love everything else about it?
It's not the battery - has been that way since the beginning. It's dual-boot so windows runs for 6 hours while Ubuntu lasts 2
Have you looked into why this happens? Maybe other people have figured out how to fix it. Have you tried Debian to see if it’s the same?
why are two shitty choices the only ones? Mac is for people who can't be bothered to understand how a computer works and Ubuntu is for people who think they do.
Is it 4K touch screen XPS? Try setting the resolution to 1080 HD instead of 4K to improve battery! What's the config on your XPS?
Using KDE (manjaro) and I'm loving it!
Mine is 4.15...I might need to upgrade and see if that helps. Thanks!
Have you tried the linux subsystem in Windows? That's where I do all my development and it works great for me. I write mostly C++
What a pointless question, use whatever you want and more importantly are most productive using ...
Why not use Windows?
Gnome >>>>> macos for all things productivity. (now is where some Mac fan jumps in and tells me how he is so much more productive with mouse gestures yet hasn't learned to type)
Worst part for me is the keyboard. Little tactile definition is the cause of a lot of missed strokes.
Mind elaborating?
