Machine learning start up.

I was in networking field for almost 11 years and last 3 years in systems MGMT and infra. Is it a good idea to change my field to machine learning? Does it make sense at the age of 35. I have mixed feeling about it. How is the career growth there? I think it is a good space to be. But can someone shed their opinions on that. Thanks

Sure , learning a new thing or two extends your intellectual reach. I learned to polish my nails last year, it's fun.

Nope, you're too old. If you were 34.5 there might have been a chance but 35 is the cut-off. At 35 nothing grows anymore. Except your nails.

Brains don't die at 35, you should be learning at these age. ML is a good field to venture into. Go ahead!

35 is the new 70 in tech. Everyone will be retired by that age.

Intel is a senior care house. People come here before they die. But all the rest are going to make big bucks and retire at 35-40. That's what they say around here. So, sorry, you're too old.

It’s possible to change your career in your mid-30s. But you should be prepared to struggle for a bit and hustle and maybe take some non-ideal jobs. Your background doesn’t sound that close to machine learning which may make it harder.

Mid 30s is definitely not too old, you just need to work out how to transfer your existing knowledge over
