I work for a consumer products company. So unfortunately tech pay isn't achievable. $80k seems entry in that market. My degree is ME. The only comparable industry is aerospace and consumer/aerospace are far different so I can't really compare. However my college cohorts do end up there so it's still relevant data. Payscale/Salary.com says I'm median but I don't know how reliable that is.
Your role industry and specific company (due to their revenues) determine a lot about pay. You may want to get in front of some recruiters for jobs in your same space and get first hand data on the salary ranges. Sample size and normalization for titles make salary data less reliable. Also please look up salaries on Glassdoor for something more accurate. Salary.com is outdated.
Uninformed response. Salary.com is trusted by over 8,000 firms that use it’s data in hr to understand what pay is fair to market. Over 25,000 organizations pay to participate in their salary surveys. Their data is entirely accurate and very up to date.
