Been working in the Bay Area for last 2 years. 34yo married male. My wife and I moved here from Pittsburgh. We had a pretty good circle of college friends and other folks in Pittsburgh. We have a home in San Jose and go to the city once or twice a month. But haven’t really made many connections here in the Bay Area. We love entertaining people and hanging out. How do we go about meeting more people, forming non-professional connections and increasing our social circle here? This place seems so overwhelming and people have their own small bubbles they live in. Pittsburgh was a much smaller place and people were far more laidback and open to making new connections. Professional life’s great but an emptiness in our social life.
People will say Meetup.com. I've never tried it myself. You can start with the connections you have, whether it's friends at work, go to alumni events, religious organizations and host or organize get togethers. Then also try to have the various groups inter mingle, this helps others expand their circles and will help you too.
People in BA are extremely busy with work during the weekdays and with kids during the weekends. They tend to make friends with thise who have similar aged kids. Culturally majority of folks are Asians, they will tend to make friends within their own communities.
Become swingers.
Get out of san jose for starters.
Some suburbs in the Peninsula and East Bay are nicer but aren’t they going to pose the same problem as San Jose? On the other hand SF might be too crowded/far/not ideal to raise a family.
Work is in South Bay. Plus we don’t like SF from a living perspective. We own a nice Single Family Home that we can’t leave too.
Have kids..... you wont have time to entertain others anymore let alone sleep. And you will meet other parents through kids school, sports functions.etc. to keep you busy.

Goodbye USA tech jobs
I guess it depends on what you are into. There's lots of gaming and hiking meet up groups. You could look into taking a language class or an adult education class (like cooking).
