Has anyone here worked as a manager at Deloitte? I went through an interview process and got offered a role as Specialist Master, which I am told is their manager equivalent for the technical track. Here’s the Hierarchy leading up to it from what i understand Associate -> Consultant -> Senior Consultant -> Manager (Specialist Master, for specialist track) Can anyone here answer the following: How do projects work? Do you have direct reports as in regular engineering management job? It seems like I may be managing contractors or remote engineers to develop proof of concepts. How often do you interface with the client? What is your day to day like? I have heard things about monotonous “busy work” but thats more for associate / entry level from what I tell. Any confirmation? (I ask recruiting things like this but obviously they have their version and Blind may have a different one) This would be for AI withing management consulting and Machine Learning engineering is my background. Would appreciate if current or past Deloitte specialist track as most forums I find are from management track.
I’m in the specialist track. When I am in client facing projects (most of the time), the expectations are the same as people from the regular consulting track, I have to manage resources, deal with the client constantly, manage deliverables and deadlines, etc. As a specialist, I am expected to produce eminence work in my area of specialization such as write white papers, publish work, speak on conferences, etc. As said before, specialists can also be enlisted to help drive sales of projects by providing insights and acting as subject matter experts. I work with large ERP software implementations, so that may not apply much to you in the AI group, but don’t expect writing extensive coding, this is consulting, not software engineering.
I have been approached by recruiter for Sr. Manger role EPM practice. If you can share, what's the salary range on this level / type of work? What does the hiring process? And what's work life balance that can be expected? Thanks
Be ready for adventures!! 🔥🔥😃

I’m a manager at Deloitte. A lot depends on the exact practice you’re joining. You should expect to have a client facing role. Also specialist track practitioners are expected to drive more sales than traditional track by leveraging their subject matter expertise.
