they are doing good. almost all shops i'm working on have cdh/hdp data lake. what i've noticed is they are focusing on services (consulting) these days

haha yeah stock looks f'd up. but cloudera/hdp has become a critical part of modern data pipeline just like oracle in rdbms. and just like oracle they've got the market share so give it some time it will trend up unless there's a better competitor out there

I haven't seen anything definitive on the Internet; it seems as though they're trying to keep things hush-hush (not sure why, unless they're worried about a bidding war - which I would love!). My info comes from people who were there until just before last week's layoffs...

Several sources have confirmed the layoffs of all of Sales on 5/9/19... DXC is supposedly the acquiring company, having taken on most of the rest of the company on Tuesday 5/14/19 (except some US and India resources), with the full acquisition to be completed in June...

I doubt it's DXC. And the 5/14 date makes no sense either

It would be pathetic if acquired by Cloudera. But I just want the highest bid.

My gut said IBM or MSFT. SAP came to mind but seems a bit of a stretch. We will find out soon enough. US team liquidated, EU packing up. Cloudera may not be able to integrate the HW acquisition as efficiently as they had hoped. That is a bridge too far IMO. But I have been wrong (many times) before. Storage co. as a possibility as well since all storage CO's are so much more these days 🧐

  • HPE and DXC has no 💰 💰. Cloudera has nothing to gain from MapR except customers and mapr file system.

It's been extremely frustrating to not know anything about what's happening
      May 16
    • And you work for MapR? 🤣🤣🤣

    • MapR Technologies maps?
I would have found it funny too, only if it wasn't happening to me. The big guys here are very incompetent, so there isn't any hope.

Do you have a stake at MapR (ex-employee,...)? Curious to know why you care so much.

    • Isn't it obvious?

    • MapR Technologies maps?
Not really. For 1, there is nothing on your profile which indicates that. And 2, every ex-employee I know is in touch with me or someone else they know. So they are sort of updated. Your comments do not suggest you are. So that made me want to confirm.

  • What happens to the employee stocks if they get acquired ?

    • Hortonworks qwK8h2xz
If they get acquired by Microsoft for example, employee stock becomes Microsoft stock.

    • What if they get acquired by a private firm ?

Lots of buzz that they’ll be acquired.

    OP
This is definitely a “business exit” or an asset sale or a tough acquisition
