Masters in Computer Engineering worth it?

Thinking of getting a masters in Computer Engineering. I have a BS in CS. Anyone care to share if their comp went up after a masters? I got into a part time program, so I’ll keep working full time as a software engineer while I go to school.

I wouldn't expect a noticable bump in salary without negotiating or changing companies, but a master's should help out if you decide to leave your company

Thanks, good point. I edited my post. I’d do it part time.

Overwhelming majority of those I met with one just used it as a way to get a job in the US after

Yeah, I have seen that too.

Not worth it. Once you have a job, nobody cares what degree you have. It’s up to you to keep learning and progressing in your career then. And a masters is not the most efficient use of time for this real world learning.

That makes sense. I really feel like I learned more in my first year at work than in college.

Yes. Some of the top engineers I’ve seen my career haven’t gone to college at all.

If your employer pays for it, then yeah why not? Plus, you'd still be getting "experience" while getting your Master at the same time. That's what I'm doing but my Master is in Software Engineering
