Maternity leave joining new company - how does it work?

Anyone had experience joining a new company and using disability leave towards recovery post childbirth? How does that work and what's the maximum leave you can take? Is it better to just stay put in my current company and get the FMLA benefits (12 weeks unpaid leave eligible only if employed for 12 months with company) and then leave? Hoping I don't have to decline a current offer only because I won't be eligible for maternity benefits.

You won’t be able to take FMLA with the new job. You can consider delaying accepting the offer, accepting the offer and try to set the joining date as further in the future as possible. I’d expect you can do this for 6-8 weeks but not more than that.

Yeah that's what I thought. Any idea if disability leave can be taken in that case? (Right after joining that is)

12 weeks at LinkedIn. Paid. No questions asked. Recovery & Bonding with a baby is more important and everyone understands that here, top down!

That's great! Does that kick in only 12 months after employment or from day 1 of joining?

Doesn’t google and Microsoft offer maternity leave within 1 year?

Is that true? I might have to consider interviewing with them in that case. :/
