Hi everyone, I am 4 weeks pregnant and overwhelmed. What did you do to better manage your health and maternity especially tech women’s. I will visit doctors and routine checkups. I am looking for links for health blogs and resources helping in ensuring everything goes well. Thanks!
Overwhelmed with what specifically? Psychologically? Physically you should not really notice any difference at 4 weeks unless you have severe morning sickness
Thanks Oscar. Positive test made me too happy..
Stay clam and carry on? Most people just find out they are pregnant at 4 weeks mark. If you have unhealthy life style, time to change. Otherwise there is really not much to do, just follow what doctor says. Maybe buy a life insurance now you will be a parent. That is the advice I give to all new parents.
Why you suggest to buy a life insurance? You have to pay until a longgggg period to maintain that life insurance, right?
I think it’s a good idea to Speak to your manager and let him know since you will be taking time off to schedule doctors appointment etc and eventually maternity leave
Too soon for this at 4 week mark. You should wait until after first trimester (12 weeks) before telling. If not at 12 weeks, atleast wait until 8 to 10 weeks after which the odds of miscarriage drop significantly. Most of the OB/GYNs offer the first appointment after 8 weeks..so waiting until after that first appointment before telling your manager is better.
There is an old Chinese tradition we don’t tell anyone except SO until 3 months later.
I did not share that I was pregnant with my managers until 16 weeks but other co workers knew. I kept a trash bin next to my desk in case of emergency sickness. I vomited a lot during pregnancy so I was prepared with toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, floss, deodorant, towels, perfume lol Everyone was really supportive sometimes I'd go home early. Congratulations and take care!
Control your stress. Don’t drink or smoke (obviously). Eat organic and a whole food diet. Avoid junk food and processed food even with cravings. Eat out less. Avoid all toxicity. Replace all chemical cleaners with bleach and vinegar. If you own a cat, have the husband take care of cleaning the litter box. Avoid perfume and standard commercialized deodorant and go totally natural and avoid as much products as possible. Do exercise and stay reasonably active if you wish, but not overly aggressive. Stay warm and comfortable. If you still have a mom, talk to her about it. Everything you’re going through, she did too. It’s not any different. Join an expecting mother’s group. There’s books like what to expect when expecting. There’s even childbirth coping classes that prepare you for child birth you can consider further along. Totally useless. You’ll forget everything and instincts will engage and you’ll manage just fine.
Best advice !
Buy the book(s): what to expect when you’re (expecting, 1st year, 2 year).
Other book recommendation: Expecting Better and The Science of Mom (there's also a blog for this). My obgyn doesn't like What to Expect because she says it's iverly cautious and tends to cause women to become anxious about things they don't need to be anxious about. That's why I liked Expecting Better.
Congrats. Be aware about postpartum and its temporary nature.
Congrats! Try the Ovia app. Has been very useful and insightful!
