Had an interview with Morgan Stanley for a developer role today and I was discussing about protocols and packets (udp, tcp.etc) with the interviewer and was specifically talking about udp when I mentioned that I saw a use case of udp in torrents (packets are shotgunned) when I used a torrent client / did torrenting before. Is this a straight red flag / reject even if rest of the interview was really good?
Why would it be? You can download Linux images over torrent...
Yeah exactly
You can torrent files legally.
No? Torrenting is just a protocol. Did you say "When I illegally download pirated amputee porn via the torrent protocol, it uses UDP"? If not, stop worrying. If yes, you're a legend.
Best answer, and yeah I am no legend 😢
Maybe if you mentioned that you use bit-torrent to download furry porn or some other work-in-appropriate content. Otherwise, you should be fine.
Meow
Not a big deal OP. Besides I’m sure there are people who got into the industry from torrents - you can easily talk about getting into automation with bots listening in irc channel for new releases, transcoding FLACS, creating pooled disks with btrfs or zfs, etc.
Interesting
TC?
120k at ARM hence looking for new opportunities
Not at all unusual. Shows good breadth
Who cares bro? My github is full of weeb anime shitty projects. Talking about protocols when torrenting looks like a genius compared to me.
