Indians and Chinese immigrants who are waiting for years for employment based green cards will have to reapply again. Good luck https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2019/05/16/trump-immigration-plan-may-throw-4-million-people-off-immigrant-waiting-lists/amp/?utm_source=quora&utm_medium=referral

Per the article looks like it’s scrapping limits on per country and awarding points to people who are currently waiting. Seems the immigration system is helping those who have been waiting longest (chinese, Indians)
Chinese wait period is 3-4 years. Indian wait period is 100+ years.
It's a way to fuck people with RFEs if they reapply. Anyone not having a CS degree and not working for FANG is royally screwed. Out of those 4 million, 3 million will get RFEs and be denied. TCS, Wipro etc will be screwed.
This is a good step. I like it. But I don't think it's going to pass the House.
Pelosi is laughing loudly
I don’t think the government should have the right to tell people that they can’t live in our country. I think everyone is born with the right to live in the USA no matter where they are born. But I recognize that this is a very liberal stance on the issue.
There are dozens of us!
Lol, I would love for this to happen to see how such idiocy plays out. I'm from India, and NO, I do not think it would be a good idea for (say) a 100 million Indians to come and live in the US. I quite like American culture, and don't want to see if being subsumed under a culture that's already well-repesented by a billion plus people.
This is another 2020 election stunt - nothing will change n he knows it.
Democrats are opposing this. They mention Canada while talking about universal healthcare. Canada already has the point system. This just shows how brain dead people leading the Democratic Party is. Ps. I’m a democrat. I would rather prefer skilled immigrants over non-skilled. All legal obviously.
So you are okay with eliminating parent category? Imagine having an aging mom/dad in another country, do you want to say “mom, I can sponsor to the US because government said no”. That’s real BS. Trump admin, particularly Stephen Miller, sugarcoats this proposal with skilled-based to limit demographic change. He uses “fixed-pie” strategy to cut family-based by half.
There is no waiting/quota for spouse and parents of a us citizens. So these two categories aren’t affected. They are talking about giving priority to point based immigrants over other categories such as f1, f2 etc.
Good luck passing the House.
