Mexican government and sense of pride
Throughout Trump campaign Mexican were portrayed in a very negative manner. When NAFTA fell through I would have expected Mexico to stand in solidarity with Canada in a show of character and strength But Mexicans just cut a deal with Trump without any consideration or solidarity with Canada. Trump called them mostly rapists and plundering US. Why did Mexico just cut a deal with a man who insulted them? I'm not Canadian or Mexican and not an expert at politics either but to me Mexican government is looking very weak and characterless.
As the news says the new deal is just NAFTA with the USA coming out worse and Mexican workers getting a raise. Something similar will happen with Canada. Why waste time on dramatics with that shithole Trump when he will be gone in a few years having hollowed out the US and accelerated its decline ? I believe it’s called geopolitics.
Optics are important ... it looks like Trump straightened them out. By making them sign a deal which adheres to his demands.
