Currently at Microsoft working on Azure. Anytime I tell anyone, no matter if they are in tech or not that I work at Microsoft I get instant dramatic responses. I’m curious how it is for Amazon (AWS) folks? I feel like I’d have to explain “Tech not Package delivery” every time especially to non-tech folks. Overall, I’m also curious how the long term career field looks for Azure vs AWS outside of Microsoft and Amazon? TC: 200k
You base your career decisions on how you need to frame it when talking to people? Amazed.
Curiosity, already made my choice, not basing anything off of it lol
thats because you live in seattle. In the bay nobody cares if you work for google fb netflix uber blah blah - because everyone works in tech
What kind of dramatic responses do you get? Positive or negative?
Positive
If you tell someone you work at big tech in Seattle or SF you will probably be crucified by a mob of angry natives lol
OCI > AWS > Azure
I once told a guy I just got an offer from Uber, he shrugged and said everybody got a job offer from Uber.
sometimes the bonus can be a whopping $2500 if you finish 100 rides
Azure has much more prestige.
It’s obvious that AWS is the top dog, followed by Azure and then whoever is taking the third spot. Amazon vs Microsoft wise, it really depends, I prefer Amazon but I’m most likely biased there. Prestige wise, if you work at either one, you are at the top compared to other non tech people who don’t work at top 5 companies
Stop mingling with the proletariat.
