I have got an interview with the CSE team and when I tried researching it came to know that it's just the IT division. I have already got an online test from them. If I decline at this point would that block me from applying to other roles for some period (6/12 months). I currently am working for a startup at Raleigh with a good enough salary (86k+8k bonus). Is it worth giving the interview? FYI I graduated last May and have been working at this startup since then.
What startup?
Microsoft loves using multiple names for the same thing. MSIT renamed to CSE around the same time evangelism/DX/other teams got reorgs into another CSE. The IT division is one of the most reviled at Microsoft, considered incompetent and random policies pop up to make it look like they are doing something. There is no respect for that division amongst engineering groups. The only other group with a similar reputation is MCS - consulting.
When you say other group with similar reputation and refers MCS-consulting, you mean incompetent and useless, right? I thought GD is like that and MCS was better, atleast some part.
There are two CSE teams. MSIT and Commercial Software Engineering. Which one did you get?
What’s the impression of commercial software engineering? I’m in talks about joining that group.
Hey @pHXp44 did you join the CSE group? Care to share your thoughts? I'm looking at a Sr SWE role in that team. Thanks.
I would recommend staying as far from CSE as possible. The worst leadership and mgmt I have seen. Unethical, mean spirited, and no growth mindset. The lie to employees 100% of the time.
what kind of work do cse folks do? is it worth leaving intuit

Keep the startup. While msft does look good you may not be able to get a widespread experience and you’ll have more opportunities at the startup. Become a sme in something then consider msft.
That's a good suggestion. I am just worried that since I already said yes for the interview and they sent me a test it would have negative effects if I think of applying sometime in the future.
You should go as far into the interview process as you can. If they make an offer, great, you don’t have to accept.
