I got an internal referral for a Microsoft Customer Success Cloud Solution Architect position. I have not yet talked to a recruiter, as the referral was just today. I am currently at a non-FAANG hyperconverged company as an IC6 (Sr. Staff Architect) with 20 YOE in SoCal. Levels.fyi was not too helpful as my current company is not listed. Just going by tc on levels.fyi I would fall into the L66 range to match where I am now. Is L66 within MS for a CSA position at all reasonable? Would the recruiter provide any details on the level range for CSAs? If the recruiter asks about expected tc, should I be evasive with specifics and wait on an offer, or should I reference a specific level (e.g. L66) as an expected range?
It’ll be L64 most likely
Aim lower with a higher base..then level up rapidly and get the larger pay increases with it .. a 64 leaves little room for growth as a CSA.
Why don’t you get a phone call or interview first.
Very unlikely you would come in at L66 as an individual contributor. Depending on how much cloud experience that you have, L64 or L65 is more realistic. If no cloud experience then definitely L64 due to yoe.
Thanks. Last fall I interviewed with a local public tech firm and their TC offer was in the L66 range. So a bit disappointing that CSA may not match what I'm making now, let a lone a bit of a raise for a new position and responsibility.
I didn’t say they won’t pay, I’m just saying what level you will likely come in at. Pay range overlaps across levels but a L64 won’t be making more than a L66. However, a L65 might make more than an L66 as pay range can overlap.
