Microsoft Immigration

I just completed my online test and have been invited for onsite interview. The onsite interview is in few weeks but I received email from Microsoft immigration team asking for all my documents like H1b , passport, travel history etc. they also made me fill a lengthy form. Is this normal ? All this will make sense if I have been offered the job but why are they collecting all these information even before the interview?

You should have filled it after successfully clearing the interview.

I filled this too before my onsite. This is to verify your work eligibility and all. No point in bringing someone onsite/giving a job if their work authorization is gonna expire and there’s nothing that can be done about it. Is this a hiring event?

It is the normal process. You fill in the paper work to prove your eligibility to work. You will redo the whole thing, all over again, if you receive an offer 🙂.

Their process sucks. But follow their process if you want to join them.

They can confirm eligibility just by looking at h1b approval and visa stamps. Entire life history biography is not required. Many people will not be offered job as well. There is no point spending money on attorneys at this point. No one will lie that they have work authorization when they don’t have it. Every company starts h1b transfer etc anyways after the job has been accepted. I spent hours filling their lengthy form for a job which I may not join if the offer is not as good as what I am getting at my current company.

Sadly the process is the process and we can’t do anything but comply, if you want to move forward with them

What I did was I told the recruiter that my passport was in Canadian embassy for stamping so can't finish all the forms right now. I managed to make up some excuses to delay the process until after I got the offer. HRs used these tricks to fool us also, why can't we?
