Boomerang Microsoftie, away for 4 years and my colleagues that have chosen to stay swear it’s been better. Thoughts on the offer: L65 LSDE Base:190k Signing Bonus:200k over 2 years Stock grant: $400k over 4 years This is relatively close to parity of what I am making at Amazon but without the Seattle commute and much better benefits. Their original offer was crap, and I was able to negotiate after I told them it wasn’t near what I was currently making. Honest thoughts?
It’s good. My 65 offer a year ago was 185/100/300, so you’re doing well. Did you have competing offers or just matching comp at Amazon?
What are your plans after 4yr?
Went though the FB loop and just missed out, so this is just comparing current amazon comp: I realize that my current comp is adjusted with the stock price increase, but it’s a lot of money to leave on the table. Excited I am considering coming back... Quick question: was told the L65 annual bonus band was 0%~40% with a 20% target. And the stock awards were $0-$72k with a. $36k target vested over 4 years? Is that correct? I just want to compare apples to apples.
That is correct. Did the Microsoft recruiter ask to see proof of your unvested Amazon RSUs or just took your word for it?
Trying to figure out the post 4 year plan. Haven’t thought that far ahead yet, but it would probably have to leave or get promoted to continue making $400k.
What were you doing at Amazon? L6 at Amazon? What org at Microsoft?
L6 SDM at Amazon in Alexa. Offer is in Windows org.
My competing offer to Microsoft was exactly the role you are leaving :-) how is the Alexa org doing these days? I think managers are better situated at Amazon than Microsoft but could be wrong. Windows seems like not a great org anymore after all the reorg‘s last year and Terry’s departure?
Alexa -> Windows sounds rough. You’d be choking on all that money and regretting it probably.
Yeah, join Windows org = rest&vest with those politic oldies
What level were you when you left microsoft 4 years ago?
YOE?
Bloody hell
