Sign on bonus -
Rsu -
Fixed Bonus -
Performance Bonus and Stock Grant -

My current salary at Salesforce is:

Not sure if they give performance bonus and stock grant.

Please let me know the best I could negotiate for.

Do not accept level 60, that’s ~12-18 months post-college hire for many and the starting level for interns who accept a FTE offer. The stated comp may be okay but with Microsoft’s slow career growth it will be murderous for your career progression.

Intern to FTE is not level 60, that’s possible but not common

Intern to 60 is def common especially if you went to a decent school.

It’s only for true rockstar interns. So it’s not common. But not super rare.

A decade ago interns came in at 59. Only cases I saw of 60 was when master's students had a couple years worth of prior experience and even that was pretty rare.

If money is your goal you're likely to get promoted faster at Salesforce and see better income growth.
If the Microsoft offer is not at least 20% more total comp don't even consider it.
    I've worked for both companies.

I have two years of experience at Cisco, then did my masters and 1 year of experience at Salesforce. Still they say its level 60 and that cant be changed.

I got similar numbers to talespin and I was relocated as well, usually relocation decreases Stocks
Know their numbers and don't accept less than what you are paid

There is no fixed bonus at MS. L60 has a bonus range of 0-20%, with 10% being the target.

The numbers you listed are quite competitive and would put you far head of the vast majority of people in the L60 band.

Typical HR strategy. That's a low ball offer and you're being under leveled. Negotiate !

Something similar - 3.5 years at Cisco after masters. 140k base, 10k cash and 45k stock sign on.. performance stock and pay is the usual as he mentioned. Going for it as it’s better than Cisco as a company and pay. And was looking to move out of Bay Area. Work life balance and immigration paperwork are very important to me along with challenging work so didn’t look much for other companies. Probably going to change teams on Microsoft after 2 years

And initial offer itself was at 61

Changing teams at MS, means taking the full interview loop again.
Most people take jobs outside, since you have to start Leetcoding.

Yep i heard so. Fine with interviews. Immigration paperwork won’t be a worry if it’s internal

  • Is it that bad coming in at l60 if he is paid as l61? If OP is under leveled he should easily get promod in 1 year, and will get another salary bump

Don't go for L60. For your salary range you easily fall in L61 and then get promoted soon to L62 if the team grows. Beware that some teams are very stagnant though at MSFT, so better get in at a good level.

  • VMware qqzu76
Ask for L61. 60 is a bit better than a college hire.
