Got approached about interviewing for the MBA Sales program to start when I finish my MBA. Nothing specific as far as role yet but curious typically what the package looks like for an MBA from a top 35 school and experience at another large tech company. I realize I'm being vague but just kind of looking for ballpark expectations.
Sales has many roles. I'm sharing some data points of MBA grads I have for Microsoft sales roles. Account Technology Strategist: 110 base + (35 + 71) bonus Licensing Sales: 110 + (60 + 104) Sales Solution Professional: 110 + (90 + 60) Solution Sales Specialist: 122 + (100 + 65) This is data from the last 3 years and you could say that the sample isn't very large, but that's the best I can help with. The base will generally be the same. The bonus part is variable. But you can get an idea of how much sales folks make in bonuses. If you are outstanding and lucky to land the right account/industry vertical, you can expect to hit anywhere between 200-250k. That beats (or at least matches) a lot of consulting salaries and you'll have a better WLB. However, in a bad market, you are screwed.
Go to sales. You will work 30 hours year one and make 180-210 year 1 without a book. Year 2, they will give you a quota that will make your head spin or a shit product and might make less than year 1. Year 3, you will leave and ask your self wtf and I doing here and go to sales force depending on year 2 and the products they have you selling! End of the day, it comes down to if you get screwed to sell a shit product or an amazing cash flowing product!! Good luck top 35 π¦π. You should have gone to top 10 mba but then you are a used car sales man making $$$ ππ
