Microsoft (MSR+AI) L64 offer
Base: 190K RSUs: 320K (equal vesting in 4 years) Bonus :15% for ME rating (0-30% range) Joining Bonus: 60K So, it’s around 300K TC for next 3-4 years, leaving aside joining bonus. Microsoft’s RSU refreshes is very low (compared to my current job at Apple) and I won’t even consider it in TC calculation. I know these numbers (esp RSU’s are low compared to FB/G L5 offers) but overall does it look decent for Microsoft offer at this level? This is for a research scientist position in MSR/AI team and I liked the team a lot. According to the recruiter these numbers are high for L64 and they had to push a lot to get these numbers approved but again these are just recruiter talks. I don’t see a significant jump in TC compared to my current role at Apple (ICT4) though I liked the MSR team much more and won’t mind switching with similar TC. Any thoughts on the offer?
Offer looks solid for 64, infact probably even in 65 ballpark.
Something to note: AI&R != MSR. It seems like you’re aware of this, but just in case, AI&R is the parent org and also includes Cortana and bing and other product facing teams.
Thanks, I am somewhat aware of this. I think they are still doing some reorg (based on the feedback on the day of my interview) and computer vision related research scientists are being moved to Hololens division.

Bull shit offer, People who are stuck there are making less. Laterals are getting 1.5x especially if you have competing offers
Updating the old thread; got a revised offer that I will likely accept: Base: 190K RSUs: 400K (equal vesting in 4 years) Bonus :15% for ME rating (0-30% range) Joining Bonus: 120K (split into 2 years) Everything else remains the same; level is L64. Overall is the expectation for L64 very high? I guess it’s team specific. A colleague of mine moved from ICT4 at Apple to L64 at Microsoft and was saying the workload is similar.
That's an L65 level offer. You did good. L64 expectations are reasonable. You can't slack but you don't have to move mountains either.
Thanks; I feel ICT4 at Apple is equivalent to L64 at Microsoft. So it’s a senior level role but not in Principal band like ICT5 at Apple or L6 at Google.
