Hello everyone, I went to onsite interviews at Microsoft, Seattle in April last week. I was interviewing for senior hardware engineering position. Cleared all 6 rounds of interviews and last one was with Program manager. I think, I did well, and recruiter emailed very positive feedback after 2 days of interviews and said he will let me know next steps. After that recruiter disappeared, he has not replied yet. It’s been 2.5 weeks now. I tried emailing recruiter but he is not replying back. Does that mean, I have been rejected ? Is this usual response time for Microsoft?
Take nVIDIA.
I've heard that Microsoft in particular is super slow
Yes. They are really slow, though recruiter told it was immediate hire position, lol.
Send an email as high importance and let them know you have a competing offer. My guess is they have another late candidate they want to interview at best. That said, MSFT recruiters are the worst in the industry.
Yeah they take their own sweet time.. unfortunately, even after they get back, there will be a couple more back and forth to negotiate the salary.. that will take another week or two.
Recruiter turnover is high. Many don’t even work for Microsoft. I’d reach out to the hiring manager if you have their contact.
team may have got multiple candidates to choose from, and they have not made the call yet. Recruiters usually quick once hiring manager gives them go-ahead.
The team that’s hiring might also be in the middle of a reorg, so they might also be figuring out if they have head count or what team they are trying to fill.
Yup.. reorg is a possibility. We were in the middle of a reorg - and we kept the poor candidate waiting for more than a month, since our manager was transitioning..
Recruiter came back to me after 5 weeks as aparently they didnt have any reqs open until then. Why would they invite candidates if reqs are not even available. Personally, my interview process was very unprofessional. Manager didn't even know when the interview was suppose to end and looped me in for another 4 hours telling that few more folks would like to chat with me. Reached the gate at airport just about closing time. I almost gave up on Microsoft then and one fine day recruiter called me.
Hate to break it to you, if they really wanted you, the hiring manager would have been on the recruiter’s ass to close the deal with you.
It may not be that they really don’t want him/her. It maybe that there isn’t an extreme need for the role to be filled ASAP. It’s hard waiting in the job market and I’d hate to see this person internalize this unnecessarily.
That’s their normal style... recruiters are very busy. Set your email as “high importance”.
Thanks. I already sent 2 follow up emails but no replies. I am getting impatient as nVIDIA was super-fast with offer letter ( around 3 days ) . So I have to make a decision asap. I can try one more email with “high importance”.
