base 115k stocks 10k joining bonus 10k relocation 12.5k location - Redmond team - Azure networking Money and stock wise this is a step down for me. But still wondering how much this package in Redmond compares to bay area and is it worthwhile moving all the way to Redmond.
Seattle is 20-30% cheaper after you consider the lack of state income tax.
California state tax is 12 3% tops, why is it 20-30% cheaper?

He is switching from QE to Dev and you got offer from Microsoft, I would jump on that opportunity... just like some data engineer given chance to software engineering/ data scientist... that is kinda like on step up so I would take it

This is an average offer for sde1... stock. I assume you are an industry hire so the stock can maybe go to 25k if you got competing offer . Other than that Redmond have slightly cheaper housing and best of all is Redmond don't have state income tax... so you get an extra 10% salary compare to California so do count that in when you are calculating salary. As for weather I hate the sun so I love Seattle. But if you like sunny weather you will be disappointed.
