Hi fellow Blind users, I interviewed at Microsoft in Redmond last week, and got a verbal offer today for a Sr SDE (L64) position. I want to know if the offer is competitive and if I should negotiate/how much wiggle room do I have for negotiation. Base: $184k Sign-on bonus: $100k over 2 years RSUs: $320k over 4 years Maximum Cash Bonus: Up to 30% of the base Is this a competitive offer? Now I fully understand cash bonus is "up to a maximum of 30% of base". I am going in with the expectation that I will not be getting 30%. Is 15% achievable provided there are no negatives in performance review and all goals are met with high quality? YoE - 11 total, first 2-3 years as an Analyst before I switched to full time SDE role. No trolls please. I'll appreciate honest advise.
Years of experience?
11 total, but first 2-3 years I wasn't a Dev. I was more of an analyst for first 2-3 years of my career. Also updated the original post with this information
Looks like great offer... Congrats!! I have about 8 yr exp and was offered TC of just over 200k(L63) and they didn't match my other (Google/fb) offers... I ended up at Google but in Bay, but would have happily accepted equivalent/col-adjusted pay for Seattle area
Looked at that but not a single TC even hit the 250k/year mark. They show a low of 190k and a high of 230k for L64. So definitely that is not true as the offered numbers are much higher than that. That's the reason I asked here.
Congrats on the offer! go ahead and add your TC so non-blind folks can benefit as well
Pretty solid offer
Any room to negotiate?
Wow even after this being a solid offer you want to negotiate ?
Did you have competing offers? How did your interviews go?
No competing offers. Interviews were a home run, a slam dunk, a touch down with extra point conversion.
Nice.. great offer. And wer do u work?
This is L65 number. I think they want to be conservative with the level and see you get promoted.
Now that is something I hope comes true. I do not want to and have not even asked them to bump my level at this time because going in as a Principal will definitely raise their expectations (in the very, very unlikely event they agree), and I'll be walking with a target on my back. I don't want to be the individual everyone hates in the team on their first day.
64 is a great place to be.
Congrats. Did u have competing offers?
No I did not. I wasn't even looking to interview but I just decided to go for this one interview and see how things turn out. Went in with zero expectations and zero hope as I was so out of interview practice.
Nice
Fantastic offer. This is in 65 territory.
I guess then it comes with a high performance expectation, which I am not going to shy away from :-)
Actually this is even a bit higher than what we give for a good 65 offer
Yes, very solid offer. Also, note that you’ll accrue more stock annually as well.
How does that work in terms of vesting? Don't know anyone at MSFT and yes, I can ask the recruiter about this, but would be good to know. Thanks.
Yes those annual bonus stocks vest every 3 months for 5 years
Which team?
I am sorry I would rather not disclose as many recruiters are also on Blind. I hope you understand.

It’s pretty good! 15% is a very reasonable goal.
Thanks :) Yes I for one don't want to lie to myself thinking I'll hit 30% That's their first offer so I'm sure there's some room to negotiate
Base is super hard to change. You may try stock and more cash. You tc is already equivalent to principals’.
