How much leetcode I should be solving to get atleast level 62 there. Or it’s not possible at all with my experience. I’m SDE1 with 1.5 years of experience in Amazon. TT on path to SDE2 promo in next quarter. No good university. TC:162K
You won’t get a 63 now. Get a sde2 at amazon and then try, your chances are higher if you do the interviews well. With 1.5 years of experience your chances are slim. They will offer you a 61 if you nail the interviews (I’m ex msft for several years)
Since you worked at both place, which place is better in terms of WLB and comp in longer run?
Msft is better in terms of wlb but also depends on the team you are on. Azure teams are a lil competitive, but other places like office not so much. Comp will be higher in amazon because of the stock growth and higher pay in general.. I think wlb is not too bad in amazon either but I can speak about aws only, I keep hearing bad wlb stories from friends in retail all the time
Sde1 in Amazon maps to L59/L60. Sde2 maps to L61/62. Is there a typo in your post?
Sde2 maps to 63 per levels.fyi site. Also I corrected my post.
Ya because amazon has a default s3 bucket called sde2. Doesn’t work that way for msft. Sde2 maps to 62/63 sometimes even 64s
If you nail the interview, you’ll get 61. If you did really well, you’ll get more sign on or stock. 62 is unlikely but try.
How much leetcode I need to do? Any suggestions?
If you have a phd you may get 62 with 1.5 yoe, although I've seen phds with 3-4 yoe hired at 62.
How much leetcode do you need to solve? As much as you need to until you know how to solve them. I’m not sure how useful this question is. If you solve all of them but forget how to solve them during the interview, what’s the point?
You will probably get 60
Doesn’t matter how good you are. With 1.5 yoe you will not be offered L62, even if your merit deserves it. The system is setup to heavily dictate your role based mostly on your years of experience. If you had over 2yoe then it is possible (I had an L62 offer 6 months ago, at 2.5 yoe). Just do as much leetcoding as you think you should (a lot), and interview as best you can. From here just trust the hiring team to slot you in a good level. If you have competing offers the level won’t matter too much, as recruiters can use your competing offers to elevate your compensation out of the “default” band. In this way higher level can be negative. I declined the L62 offer. Now, 6 months later, I reinterviewed and secured an L61 offer that is offering me significantly more money than the previous offer. This is good for me, as promotion from 61 to 62 (which are both SDE2 levels) is way easier than 62 to 63 (which is SDE2 to SDE3, or in other words, mid level to senior level). I’ll be accepting this offer whenever I get the final numbers :)
Thanks. Can you share comp numbers for 61 level?
No way
Please inform me of how you got the opportunity to interview there.

63 is senior. Bruh what?
Oh I though it’s senior level of SDE2.L62? Any tips for preparing?
L62 is also far fetched with 1.5 yoe. Doesn’t matter how much you prep, you need like 3+ yoe to get hired above 61. Or may be a PhD will get you in if the job needs your area of specialization..
