I am offered this bizzarre offer from Microsoft for level 59. Base salary : 115k , Relocation bonus : 4k , Joining bonus 10k (5k bonus first month, 5k after 1 year) , stock 70k for 4 years. I have work experience as software engineer for 3 years.. Please let me know to what should i negotiate. I have deadline next week. Any help is greatly appreciated . I have a competitive offer.
Maybe give details about the competitive offer so we know where you have room to negotiate?
Competitive offer salary is 108k base , 5000 stock options , 5000 relocation , its a good startup in cali.
5k stock options means nothing.
Offer is decent , if you do well you will be 60 within a year
Why is this bizarre? Looks like a standard offer for that level.
I was expecting to negotiate 125k base , level 60 , 120k stock 4 years , joining bonus of 20k and relocation of 10k. What do you suggest?
No, this is fair, I've seen tons of new grad 59s this year (NOT last year, where it was negotiable but not common) get 120 stock over 3.5 years
Your leveling is based on your interview performance. Even if the position open was for a 60 or 61, if interviewers feel you have potential but you’re just not at a 60 yet they will recommend hire at 59. I have done this a few times. If you perform at a 60, you will get promoted quickly in at most a year.
What's the max offer for Level 59 and level 60. Can anyone mention? I will try to negotiate with respect to that.
Not bad, about 5 years ago it was like 100k base, 5k signing, 50k stock. To get the offer you now try to negotiate interview with G/FB instead
Seems high for a 59, I got offered 105 coming in at level 60 as an experienced hire.. is this a technical role? Or non technical?
Its technical role.
Was your 3 yrs of experience in US? Does it align with the MS job profile? Just having x YOE doesn't matter. This is a standard 59 offer. MS won't budge unless you come up with competing offers.
3 years experience was in India. It doesn't align with the Ms Job profile. But i have competing offer.
Then, competing offer is your best bet. Good luck 👍
Can you negotiate the level?
